Virtue of the Week
Excellence -Tino pai-rawa
Excellence is doing your best.
It is giving your very best to any task you do or any relationship you have.
Excellence is effort guided by a noble purpose.
It is a desire for perfection.
The perfection of a seed comes in the fruit.
When you practice excellence, you bring your gifts to fruition.
We practice tino pai-rawa when we:
- give our best to whatever we do
- give our best to relationships
- set noble and realistic goals
- remember to plan and practice
- don’t try to do everything
- develop our special gifts
Reflection of the week
This Thursday February 11, it is our school and parish’s Feast Day.
This is the day in the Liturgical year that we remember when Our Lady, Mary, appeared to Bernadette at Lourdes. This is a day of celebration for us. We are called to be disciples of Jesus and Mary was one of the first disciples.
THIS Thursday, February 11, it is our school and parish Feast day. To celebrate this, along with blessing our new school year we invite you all to join with us at the10am mass.
Parent/Teacher/Student Beginning of Year Conferences
These are to be held on Thursday, February 18 starting at 2.15pm. Booking sheets were given out last week and were due in last Friday. Appointment times will be sent home with your eldest child next Monday.
School will finish at lunchtime(1.20pm) that day to allow time for all conferences to be completed. Children are to be collected by 2pm at the latest please.
A reminder to please let your after school care providers know to collect your child early that day too please.
Whole School Inquiry Learning Trip
Tomorrow week, Wednesday, February 17 the whole school is bussing to Wellington to visit the Marine Education Centre in Island Bay. We will be leaving school at 8am so don’t be late as we would hate anyone to miss out!!!
Students are to wear their correct PE uniform and sunhat and bring their jersey or jacket. They are to wear sensible footwear ie sandshoes and need a decent morning tea and lunch as well as a drink bottle.
In case of anyone getting wet we ask you to please provide them with a change of clothes and a small towel in a named plastic bag. Thank you to those parents who have offered their help. We will see you at 8am next Wednesday.
The cost of the bus as well the entry fee is funded from your activity donation. There will be a charge for those who have not paid this unless they have made arrangements with the office.
2016 Parental Permission Slips
These were issued today. Please fill out and return as soon as possible.
If your child is going to be absent from school please ensure you ring the school office by 9.30am. We need to know why students are absent as details must be entered onto our school management system. If you don’t let us know then your child has to be marked as truant.
