Term 1   Week 6  2016

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou

Welcome to week 6.

This week we are hosting the year 3/4 tabloids here at our school (Thursday) and on Friday our junior syndicate are going to mass at 10am. Please join us for these events if you are able to.

Enjoy your week,
Jacinta Cousins, Principal

Virtue of the Week

Confidence – Maia
Confidence is having faith in something or someone.
It is a kind of trust.
When you have self confidence, you trust that you have what it takes to handle whatever happens.
When you are confident in others, you count on them.
Confidence in God is a sense of trust that your Creator loves you and watches over you as you go through life.

We practice maia when we:

  • p-confidenceremember that we are worthy, whether we succeed or fail
    • are willing to try new things
    • learn our own strengths and weaknesses
    • use the gifts God gave us
    • practise until we master something
    • think positively

Reflection of the week

The readings this Sunday focus on God’s forgiveness. In the first reading we are told that 2077807the people have, more or less, forgotten about God, have become ‘bored’ with God. They had forgotten that it was God who brought them out of Egypt (the past) But God is going to work even new wonders for them, to bring them back from exile (something completely new, a path in the wilderness). And besides all this, God is even ready to forgive their sin of rejection and even forget about it.

Newsletter Sponsors
Many thanks to our newsletter sponsors whose details you will find on the back of our weekly newsletter: Inkpost, The Marist Club, K&M Print, Pioneer New World, Highway Cars & Trucks Service Ltd, Professionals (Corrinna), Contel Ltd, RT Installations, The Frame Shop, Vince Basile Plumbing.
Their sponsorship pays for our newsletters to be printed and we thank them for their support. All they ask in return is the opportunity to quote. Please support them with this.

The Way Of The Cross
On Holy Thursday, April March 24, the whole school will be dramatising the Way of the Cross, Jesus journey to his crucifixion at Calvary. This will take place around our school grounds starting at 2pm.
Each child will need to be dressed as the people were at that time. To keep this simple a dressing gown with a tea towel around the head is sufficient for the boys and a long piece of material to wrap around for the girls are some suggestions.
We invite you all to join us for this solemn event too.

Tawa Loop
Come along to celebrate the Year of Mercy with a walk around the Tawa Loop track at the Manawatu Gorge.   The walk, held previously for the Year of Faith, was a great success and a lot of fun.  It is also a wonderful opportunity to honor Saint Joseph.    Gather at the carpark on the Ashhurst side of the gorge at 10.30a.m. on Saturday 19th May.   From there we will walk the Tawa Loop Track and stop halfway for a picnic lunch before viewing the Great Slip Lookout.   Then we complete the Loop and finish about 2p.m. back at the carpark.   Everyone is welcome.   Please bring sensible shoes and your picnic.   Any queries please contact Fr Marcus Francis ph 3585614 or 02102283349 or email marcusfrancis@gmail.com.
