Virtue of the Week
Confidence – Maia
Confidence is having faith in something or someone.
It is a kind of trust.
When you have self confidence, you trust that you have what it takes to handle whatever happens.
When you are confident in others, you count on them.
Confidence in God is a sense of trust that your Creator loves you and watches over you as you go through life.
We practice maia when we:
- remember that we are worthy, whether we succeed or fail
- are willing to try new things
- learn our own strengths and weaknesses
- use the gifts God gave us
- practise until we master something
- think positively
Reflection of the week
This Sunday is Palm Sunday, the day we celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The readings focus on Jesus, eternal God who humbled himself to be identified with humankind. Those who sought their own importance humiliated Jesus and denied his identity. They put him to death, but God raised him up and proclaimed his true identity. Jesus Christ is Lord!
Prayer: God of all things, through the death of Jesus you forgive us all our sins. Let us never forget the cross because it is a sign of how much you love us.
Thank you to Mrs Moor and Mrs Schishka for organising the Year 3/4 Catholic Schools tabloids held last Thursday.
Thank you to all those parents who helped with the morning tea for this event too.
Thank you to Mr Anderson for organising the Blokes Event held last week.
First Sacrament Programme
Second meeting is this Thursday at 6.30 in the gathering area of the church for parents and children.
BOYS DEMOLISH BLOKES IN FLIPPER BALL
The Boys recorded an historic 6 – 5 victory over the Blokes in Flipper Ball at the first Blokes Event of the year in the school pool last week. The game was high intensity and action packed!! The despondent Blokes team mentioned dubious refereeing and shifting goalposts as being partly responsible for their disappointing defeat and have vowed revenge in Dodge Ball in term 3!!
The Way Of The Cross
On Holy Thursday, April March 24, the whole school will be dramatising the Way of the Cross, Jesus journey to his crucifixion at Calvary. This will take place around our school grounds starting at 2pm.
Each child will need to be dressed as the people were at that time. To keep this simple a dressing gown with a tea towel around the head is sufficient for the boys and a long piece of material to wrap around for the girls are some suggestions.
We invite you all to join us for this solemn event too.
The Year 5/6 season starts with 2 weeks of grading at Vautier Park on May 7 & 14. Registration forms are coming home today.

Please return all uniforms in a clean condition before the easter break for a refund.

Come along to celebrate the Year of Mercy with a walk around the Tawa Loop track at the Manawatu Gorge. The walk, held previously for the Year of Faith, was a great success and a lot of fun. It is also a wonderful opportunity to honor Saint Joseph. Gather at the carpark on the Ashhurst side of the gorge at 10.30a.m. on Saturday 19th May. From there we will walk the Tawa Loop Track and stop halfway for a picnic lunch before viewing the Great Slip Lookout. Then we complete the Loop and finish about 2p.m. back at the carpark. Everyone is welcome. Please bring sensible shoes and your picnic. Any queries please contact Fr Marcus Francis ph 3585614 or 02102283349 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
