Virtue of the Week
Purposefulness – Whakatara-nga
Purposefulness is having a clear focus. Instead of being fuzzy or unsure what you’re doing or why you are doing it. When you have a goal you are working toward, you are acting on purpose. You concentrate your mind and your efforts so that you can keep your goal before you and something good will happen as a result. With God’s help, when you are purposeful, you can achieve just about anything.
We practice whakatara-nga when we:
- have a vision of what we want to accomplish
- concentrate our efforts on the goal
- keep from being distracted
- do things one at time and finish what we start
- get back on purpose if we are distracted
- persevere until we get results
Reflection of the week
The focus of Sunday’s Gospel is our assurance that we belong to Christ, we will live forever.
Nothing can take us from the loving protection of our Shepherd.
“My sheep listen to my voice.
I know my sheep and they follow me.
My sheep will live forever because I give then eternal life.
No one can take them out of my hand for the Father, who is greater than anyone, gave them to me.
And the Father and I are one.”
Thank you to Mrs Schischka for the fantastic job she has done over the term teaching in The Hive.
