Virtue of the Week
Friendliness – Whaka-hoahoa
Friendliness is being a friend. It is taking an interest in other people. It is going out of your way to make others feel welcome or to make a stranger feel at home. When you are friendly, you happily share your belongings, time, ideas and feelings. You share the good times and the bad times together. Friendliness is the best cure for loneliness.
We practice whaka-hoahoa when we:
- like ourselves and realise we have a lot to offer
- smile and greet someone we don’t know
- get to know someone and let them get to know us
- show an interest in others
- show caring when a friend needs us
- are friendly to people who look and act different
Reflection of the week
Last Sunday we celebrated the Ascension of The Lord into Heaven.
The Gospel told us that before Jesus left his disciples physically, he called them to be witnesses. Witnesses to all they had seen and heard. They were to tell everyone to turn from their sins and receive God’s forgiveness. Jesus did not leave them alone in this mission. He promised them the Holy Spirit.
Lord, just as the disciples were happy that Jesus returned to you, make us happy to know about him and keep us always praising you. We ask this Christ our Lord.
Thank you to our PTFA for running a great disco and to our fabulous DJ for his excellent efforts.

This is to be held on Tuesday, June 7, at Rangitane Park which is off Maxwell’s line starting a 1pm. Please note this is a change of date from the original one mentioned in the senior newsletter.
There are several outstanding fees owing for the Year 5/6 team. Please attend to this immediately as the season has now started.
The Year1/2 team registration fee of $30 is due in by the end of this week as the first game for the season begins next Tuesday, May 17 at CET Arena.
If we are to keep on top of this, we require very family to be vigilant. Please check your children’s heads regularly and treat if necessary. We do have a robi comb here at school for you to use if you wish. Just come and ask. If cases go untreated I will have no option but to get the health nurse involved.

Come along to celebrate the Year of Mercy with a walk around the Tawa Loop track at the Manawatu Gorge. The walk, held previously for the Year of Faith, was a great success and a lot of fun. It is also a wonderful opportunity to honor Saint Joseph. Gather at the carpark on the Ashhurst side of the gorge at 10.30a.m. on Saturday 19th May. From there we will walk the Tawa Loop Track and stop halfway for a picnic lunch before viewing the Great Slip Lookout. Then we complete the Loop and finish about 2p.m. back at the carpark. Everyone is welcome. Please bring sensible shoes and your picnic. Any queries please contact Fr Marcus Francis ph 3585614 or 02102283349 or email email@example.com.
