Term 3   Week 3  2016

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou

It has certainly been a bit chilly of late hasn’t it? I hope you are all bearing up ok.

This week is Peace Week, hence our virtue is peacefulness. Have a read and make some time during the week to practice.

We welcome David Ravenhill, our new groundsperson, to our school community this week.

Enjoy your week,

Jacinta Cousins, Principal

Virtue of the Week

Rangimarie – Peacefulnesss
Peacefulness is an inner sense of calm.
It comes especially in quiet moments of reflection or gratitude.
It is getting very quiet and looking at things so you can understand them.
Peacefulness is a way of approaching conflict with others so that no one is made wrong. It is being fair to others and yourself.
Peace is giving up the love of power for the power of love.

We practice rangimarie when we:

  • create inner peace with a regular time to pray, meditate or p-peacefulnessreflect
  • use peaceful language even when we are angr
  • speak gently and respectfully
  • avoid harming anyon
  • appreciate differences
  • find peaceful solutions to every problem

Reflection of the week

The readings this Sunday tell us that those who proclaim the truth often suffer for it. Jeremiah presented a very unpopular message – the city of Jerusalem would be destroyed because the people were unfaithful. He was constantly put in the position of choosing between being faithful to his mission and risking his life, or denying God’s call and saving
his own life.

The Gospel focuses on our acceptance of Jesus and his teaching. reflection16-23For the faithful Christian, as for Jeremiah, that will surely mean “taking up our cross.” Jesus tells us that when we are willing to give up our life, we actually save it – he will take us with him to be with God
