Term 4 Week 4 2016
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou
Welcome to week 5, half way through the term already! It’s always a busy time in schools as we complete the tasks for this year as well as setting up for the following year! We always manage to get there though!
Enjoy your week,
Jacinta Cousins, Principal
Virtue of the Week
Love is a special feeling that fills your heart.
You show love in a smile, a pleasant way of speaking, a thoughtful act or a hug.
Love is treating people and things with special care and kindness because they mean so much to you.
Love is treating other people just as you would like them to treat you- with respect and kindness.
We practice aroha when we:
- treat others as we would want them to treat us
- say kind and loving things
- share our things and ourselves
- show affection
- think loving thoughts
- take good care of the things we love
Reflection of the week
We live in a world that is full of unrest and confusion. Yet it is in the midst of such a world that we are called to witness to Christ.
Jesus warned his disciples of the many things that will happen before the end of the world. The many tragedies and disasters that will occur could easily lead us to despair and convince us that we are sad victims of circumstances. But this is not how Jesus looked on these events. He referred to them as opportunities for his disciples to bear witness to him and to the Gospel.
This Sunday’s readings deal with the theme of eternal life.
Life is not a journey to nowhere. It is a journey to the promised land of eternal life.
Let us reflect on the great hope that God in his love holds out to us.
Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is our leader in this journey of hope.
Thank you to those who have been busy baking and sweet making for the gala. We appreciate the effort you are making for the gala.
Photos are being taken tomorrow November the 9th, starting at 9am. Hopefully you will have brought in your order forms!
These were scheduled to be held on November 22 but due to the weather we have not been able to start training for these so we have decided to now hold them on Monday, December 12 starting at 10am. Sorry if this has inconvenienced anyone.
We invite you all to come and see the inquiry work your child has been involved in this term for our topic “It’s a Bugs Life.” This will be held on Thursday, December 1st between 2.30 and 3.30pm.
Book Character Mufti Day
On December 9 we will be having a mufti day. For a gold coin donation children can come to school dressed as their favourite book character and bring along their book too. After lunch we will have a parade to which parents are invited. This is a PTFA fundraising event.
