Term 4 Week 5 2016
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou
This SUNDAY is our school gala and it promises to be a great one. I hope to see you all there.
Let’s hope the weather behaves. Prayers please!!
Enjoy your week,
Jacinta Cousins, Principal
Virtue of the Week
Love is a special feeling that fills your heart.
You show love in a smile, a pleasant way of speaking, a thoughtful act or a hug.
Love is treating people and things with special care and kindness because they mean so much to you.
Love is treating other people just as you would like them to treat you- with respect and kindness.
We practice aroha when we:
- treat others as we would want them to treat us
- say kind and loving things
- share our things and ourselves
- show affection
- think loving thoughts
- take good care of the things we love
Reflection of the week
The readings this Sunday focus on fidelity. The first reading, from the prophet Malachi,
draws a clear distinction between good and evil, reward and punishment. For the prophet the end is clear – those who remain true, who worship, God, will be saved.
The Gospel passage deals with the end time. As we come to the end of the liturgical year,
the liturgy takes us back to the question of the first Sunday of Advent, “When will the end of the world come?” Here, Jesus warns that before the end comes, Christians will be tested and tempted by false prophets and antichristian forces. But, as our response to the first reading affirms, nothing can take us from God’s love.
A big thank you to the PTFA for all their hard work preparing for our gala. Go team!
Congratulations to the following students who have moved up the ladder: Theo, Boston R, Kaitlyn and Wyatt.
We invite you all to come and see the inquiry work your child has been involved in this term for our topic “It’s a Bugs Life.” This will be held on Thursday, December 1st between 2.30 and 3.30pm.
Book Character Mufti Day
On December 9 we will be having a mufti day. For a gold coin donation children can come to school dressed as their favourite book character and bring along their book too. After lunch we will have a parade to which parents are invited. This is a PTFA fundraising event.
These will be held on Monday, December 12 starting at 10am. (weather permitting)
Nail Polish and Air Brush Tattoos
If any of our students get these done at our school gala I will give them a week’s grace before they have to have them removed.
Please note the courts will be closed off for parking this Sunday for our gala.
