Term 1 Week 1 2017
Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou
Welcome to the 2017 school year.
We welcome back our returning students and their families and extend a special welcome to those who are new to our school community.
We are all set for an exciting year of learning and the staff and I look forward to working with you and your wonderful children.
We welcome Mrs Cindy Towers who is teaching in The Hive, Room 3, this year.
Over the holidays we have had our school pool solar heated and so hopefully when the sun does shine it should be warmer water for swimming. Our thanks to our PTFA who have raised funds for this to be done, along with the Pioneer New World’s Cash for your Community Campaign.
The newsletter comes home every Tuesday and it is the chief means of communication with you. Please take the time to read it. It is also posted on our website each week.
Enjoy your week

May the Lord bless us as we begin this new school year.
May his loving presence surround us.
May we find peace and happiness in work and play

Parish/School Mass & Picnic Sunday 12th February
We extend an invitation to all members of our school community to join us for our parish/school mass and picnic to be held at Rangitane Park on Racecourse Road on Sunday February 12.
Mass will begin at 10am and will be followed by traditional picnic games for all ages, with a BBQ lunch to follow.
Mass outdoors means you’re encouraged to bring your own seating, though about 50 chairs will be transported to the venue.
Picnic Lunch: The parish will provide cooked sausages, bread, sauce, plates and forks. Please bring a salad to share and your own drinks—water will be available.
Volunteers needed for: 1) setting up Rangitane Park (erect a tent etc.) 2) serving food and 3) cooking the BBQ. Sign-up sheets are in the church foyer.
In case of wet weather, the church and hall will be used.
Parent/Teacher/Student Beginning of Year Conferences
These are to held on Thursday, February 16 starting at 2pm. Booking forms with this newsletter.
Please note that school will finish at lunchtime(1.20pm) that day to allow time for all conferences to be completed. Children are to be collected by 2pm at the latest.

2017 Parental Permission Slips
These are with this newsletter. Please fill out and return by this Friday.
Absenteeism
If your child is going to be absent from school please ensure you ring the school office by 9.30am. We need to know why students are absent as details must be entered onto our school management system. If you don’t let us know then your child has to be marked as truant.
Enrolments
If your child is turning 5 in the next couple of years please ensure their name is down with Kath in the office.
Stationery
Thank you for your continued support in purchasing stationery from the school. We realise that the prices for stationery are higher than the larger retailers charge but our prices stay the same throughout the year and all profits go back to the students. If you would like to pay monies owing to the school by internet banking please contact the school office (3589727) for the bank account number and reference information. A reminder that the stationery list needs to be completed and returned with updated contact information to the school office regardless of whether your bought the stationery through the school or not. The RE, I.T. and Activity amounts need to be paid as soon as possible. Should you have any difficulties with either stationery or the fees please see Mrs Cousins.
