Term 1   Week 3  2017

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou

Our parish/school mass on Sunday was a very enjoyable occasion. The staff and I appreciate the effort of those who came.  We had a very yummy lunch and it was a lovely to celebrate mass in the outdoors. The games and activities were a lot of fun too. We have some very competitive parents and children out there!
Special thanks to the new families who came to the mass and picnic. There is an expectation that our school families participate in our special character school/parish events.

Two special events this week – our conferences on Thursday and just before that a visit from the Harvey Norman Community Warriors Management Team who are here to share some basic ways our students can follow to help improve or maintain positive mental health.

Enjoy your week
Jacinta Cousins, Principal

Virtue of the Week

Excellence – Tino pai-rawa

Excellence is doing your best. It is giving your very best to any task you do or any relationship you have. Excellence is effort guided by a noble purpose. It is a desire for perfection. The perfection of a seed comes in the fruit. When you practice excellence, you bring your gifts to fruition

We practise tino pai-rawa when we:

  • excellencegive our best to whatever we do
  • give our best  to relationships
  • set noble and realistic goals
  • remember to plan and practice
  • don’t try to do everything
  • develop our special gifts

Reflection of the week

We are familiar with the great commandment: “ You must love your neighbour as yourself.”

Our hearts were made to love, not to hate. Love is more beautiful than hate. Hate poisons and hardens the heart. Love, on the other hand, purifies and softens the heart. At all costs, then, we must keep love in our heart. The image of God is at its best and brightens in us when we love.

The power of love is greater than the power of evil. Love releases extraordinary energies in us. And love is never lost. If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart.reflection17-3
