Virtue of the Week
Confidence – Maia
Confidence is having faith in something or someone.
It is a kind of trust.
When you have self confidence, you trust that you have what it takes to handle whatever happens.
You feel sure of yourself and enjoy trying new things.
When you are confident in others, you rely on them and confide in them.
- remember that we are worthwhile whether we succeed or fail
- are willing to try new things
- discover our talents
- learn from our mistake
- are free from worry
- think positively
Reflection of the week
T
he greatest hope of Lent is the discovery that it’s not only about penance, deprivation, spiritual struggles, and rooting out sin in our lives. Those are often the things we do during Lent. But the hope of Lent lies in what God does. From the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Francis has made mercy his hallmark. Francis wants us to realise that God’s mercy and grace surround us not just in special times and places but always and everywhere. Lent is a time to discover the extraordinary in the ordinary, to be surprised by God’s mercy when we least expect it.
As the season begins, think about the hopes you have for Lent this year. Think about what changes you want to see in your life, in the world.

Swimming Carnival
March 17 is the date we have set aside for this event. The seniors (United and Explorers) start at 11.45am and the juniors (The Nest, Rainbows, The Hive) start at 2pm.
You are all invited to join us for this event which is held in our school pool.
School Triathlon
On Wednesday March 29 from 5.30 to 7pm we are holding a triathlon here at school for our students.
Each student will be given a sponsor form this week and asked to collect sponsorship for each lap they run, bike (or a form of wheels e.g scooter, skateboard, rollerblades, etc) and swim on the night.
Money raised goes to Caritas the NZ Catholic Aid agency which is the social action we are taking at the end of our inquiry unit on water. The money will help those Pacifica countries who do not have enough water.
Following the run there will be a sausage sizzle and drinks to purchase.
Donation Receipts
For those who have paid their activity donation etc, a receipt is available from the school office. Either call in or telephone Kath and she will give it to your child to bring home. You are able to claim back 33% from the Inland Revenue Department.
School Crossing
We ask parents to please use the school crossing. Our patrollers provide a valuable service in keeping our school community safe and by using the crossing you support this.

The Year 3&4 team has been registered and players have a notice coming home today about the fees etc. These must be paid before the first game on March 30.
