Virtue of the Week
Purposefulness – Whakatara-nga
Being purposeful is having a clear focus, instead of being confused or unsure of what you are doing or why you are doing it.
You are acting purposefully when you have a goal you are working toward.
You concentrate your mind and your efforts so that something good will happen as a result.
Some people just let things happen.
A purposeful person makes things happen.
We practice whakatara-nga when we:
- have a clear vision of what we want to accomplish
- know why we are doing it
- focus on a goal
- get back on track if we get scattered or distracted
- do things one at a time and finish what we start
Reflection of the week
This Sunday is Palm Sunday, the day we celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The readings focus on Jesus, eternal God who humbled himself to be identified with humankind. Those who sought their own importance humiliated Jesus and denied his identity. They put him to death, but God raised him up and proclaimed his true identity. Jesus Christ is Lord!
Prayer: God of all things, through the death of Jesus you forgive us all our sins. Let us never forget the cross because it is a sign of how much you love us.
Thank you to Paora and Margot Pomare for their help with our swimming squad at the southern cluster sports and to those parents who helped with transport.
Congratulations to our Year 5 & 6 students who represented us at the Southern Cluster swimming sports last Friday. You all put in your best effort.
Basic Facts Ladder
Congratulations to Keaghan Doherty, Sharley Temple and Jackson Torok who have all moved up the ladder. Welll done!
City and school Library books to be returned to school by this Friday 7th April. Please check at home, if you have any of these books. We will be returning books to the City Library on Monday.
Holy Thursday Liturgy & Shared Meal
On Thursday, April 13 starting at 1.30 pm, we invite you to join us for a commemoration of Jesus’ Last Supper.
This was the meal Jesus ate with his disciples before he was arrested and began his journey to his death on the cross at Calvary.
Your child needs a simple costume for this day, something similar to the clothing worn in Jesus time. Ideas for this include a dressing gown, with a tea towel tied around the head or a loose gown and scarf.
On this day we ask that each family provide a plate of food on a disposable plate which again would be food similar to what would have been eaten in Jesus time e.g cheese, dried fruit and nuts, pita bread, fruit, cold meat etc.
As this is one of the most important times in our Church and school calendar, we sincerely hope many of you will be able to join us for this event. It will be held in the hall.
Anyone willing to help set this up on the day please let us know.
Following the lunch you are invited into your child’s classroom to looking at the learning they have been involved in over the term.
Following our liturgy and shared meal on the last day of this term, you are invited to go with your child to their classroom to look at the learning they have been involved in for their inquiry.
