Term 2   Week 5  2017

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou

Welcome to week 5, half way through the term already.

All the students are busy training for the cross country each day at the moment in readiness for our cross country to be held on June 9th. Several are forgetting to bring their PE uniform with them to school each day however, which means they are training in their uniform which is not very satisfactory as it will get quite smelly!

Enjoy your week ,
Jacinta Cousins, Principal

Virtue of the Week

Loyalty- Pumau

Loyalty is staying true to someone.
It is standing up for something you believe in without wavering.
It is being faithful to your family, country, school, friends or ideals even when the going gets tough.
When you are a loyal friend, even if someone disappoints you, you still hang in there with them.
Loyalty is staying committed.

We practice pumau when we:

  • stand up for people and ideas we believe in
  • are a faithful friend through good times and bad
  • don’t let others come between us and our friends
  • don’t allow loyalty to lead us into trouble

Reflection of the week

Last Sunday we celebrated the Ascension of the Lord. On this day we celebrate the glorification of Jesus, when the father raised him up in glory.
It is a day for renewing our hope because God wants us to share in the glory of his son.
The resurrection, the ascension and the giving of the Spirit are part of the same event. In one action that goes beyond earthly time, Jesus emerges from the tomb, returns to the father and gives the Spirit. However from the viewpoint of the first disciples, who continued to live on within time, these actions are described as having taken place at different times.
