Term 2 Week 6 2017
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. I know I did!
We are looking forward to our school cross country this Friday which is held down at Rangitane Park, off Maxwell’s Line on Racecourse Road at 1pm. Hopefully we will see many of you there. The PTFA will be selling sausages in bread, drinks and juicies down there so remember to bring some cash.
Enjoy your week ,
Jacinta Cousins, Principal
Virtue of the Week
Loyalty is staying true to someone.
It is standing up for something you believe in without wavering.
It is being faithful to your family, country, school, friends or ideals even when the going gets tough.
When you are a loyal friend, even if someone disappoints you, you still hang in there with them.
Loyalty is staying committed.
We practice pumau when we:
- stand up for people and ideas we believe in
- are a faithful friend through good times and bad
- don’t let others come between us and our friends
- don’t allow loyalty to lead us into trouble
Reflection of the week
This Sunday it is Pentecost Sunday, the day the Holy Spirit came to the apostles as a great wind and as tongues of fire.
Wind is a symbol of power and fire is a symbol of love. Imbued with power and love, the apostles began the preaching of the Gospel. We pray that the Holy Spirit may breathe new life into us as he breathed new life into the apostles at the first Pentecost so that we may be filled with courage and be joyful messengers of the Gospel.
Congratulations to Tessa (Y5) and Joshua (Y6) who won our school’s scripture reading competition. They were awarded the school cups for this at assembly this morning.
Tomorrow evening at St Mary’s church at 6pm, they will attend the inter school competition. Anyone who would like to attend this event is warmly invited.
This Friday, June 9, at Rangitane Park which is off Maxwell’s line starting at 1pm. All students must be in their full PE uniform. Shoes are optional.
The students will be bussed to and from the park but if you wish to take your child home from the park at the end of all the races that is permitted, as long as you let their teacher know.
The PTFA will be running a sausage sizzle down at the park so bring some coins.
Congratulations to Logan, Ryan, Sharley, Addison and Danny from United who have gone up a stage on the basic facts ladder.
