Term 3 Week 1 2017
Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou
Welcome to the new term. I hope you all managed to get some time to relax and enjoy the holidays.
We are all set for an exciting term of learning. Our inquiry is on art and as a hook in classes will be visiting the Art Gallery in a couple of weeks time.
Highlights for the term include: NZ playhouse production next week, our parish/school mass and pancake breakfast on September 3 and hosting the Y5/6 catholic schools rippa rugby netball competition, which the date for this is yet to be finalised.
Enjoy your week ,
Jacinta Cousins, Principal
Virtue of the Week
Co-operation – Mahi-tahi
Co-operation is working together for the good of everyone.
It is a willingness to respect others and to follow rules which keep everyone safe and happy.
Co-operation is being helpful to one another, sharing the load.
It is joining others in order to do something that cannot be done alone.
We practice mahi-tahi when we:
work well with others- freely offer our help and ideas
- follow the rules
- do our part to keep a safe, happy environment
- when we disagree, do it peacefully
- ask for help when we need it.
Reflection of the week
The readings this Sunday focus on seeking the things that are of value.
King Solomon is praised for seeking wisdom rather than riches or personal gain. And he desires wisdom in order to better serve his kingdom.
The Gospel gives two examples of doing everything possible to attain the reign of God. The person who truly wants the reign of God will sell everything in order to remain faithful to the kingdom. That is true wisdom.
