Term 4 Week 1 2017
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou
Welcome to the fourth and final term of the year.
With only 8 and a half weeks in the term the time will fly by very quickly.
Let’s hope the weather picks up a bit!
Enjoy your week,

Virtue of the Week
Tolerance – Tuku-marie
Tolerance is being able to accept things that you wish were different. When you practice tolerance, you have flexibility. You don’t expect others to be just like you. You accept differences. When you are practicing tolerance, you are able to sort out what is important and what is not. You show patience and forgiveness when people make mistakes. You accept what you cannot change with good grace.
We practice tuku-marie when we:
- are open to differences
- are free of prejudice
- don’t complain when uncomfortable conditions can’t be helped
- respect other’s opinions when they differ from ours
- forgive others instead of holding a grudge
- overlook people’s faults
- focus on changing ourselves, not others
Reflection of the week
October is the month of the Rosary. When you pray the Rosary you use a circle of beads. We say a prayer as we touch each bead. It is a very reflective and gentle way of praying. We think about important times in the lives of Jesus and about Mary as we pray. We will be saying part of the Rosary each morning this month. If your child has their own Rosary beads they are welcome to bring them to school.
Thank you to Tracey Torok, Kelly Fage, Kathleen Butterini, Margaret Beckett and staff – Donna Brown, Louise Sheehan, Rosemary Asplin, Ali Pain and Julie Moor for their support with the knitting club in term 3.The students thoroughly enjoyed their sessions.
Children are all to be in their full summer uniform after Labour weekend.
We have a supply of boys summer shorts Sizes 3, 4 & 6 at $12 pr. Also girls white polos Sizes 8, 12 & 14 at $15 each (good quality UPF 25).
It is compulsory for all students to be wearing the school sunhat in term four. We have a “no hat, no play” policy.
Children’s Liturgy Mass
You are all welcome to join us for this mass to be held here at Lourdes on Sunday, October 29th at 10am. Following the mass there will be a shared morning tea.
Order forms for these will be coming today.
At the end of the term we surveyed the students about our eating times and the outcome was that the majority prefer to eat first before they go off to play so that is what we will be doing from now on.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding while we trialled the alternative.
