Virtue of the Week
Reflection of the week
This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of the season of Lent – the 40 days leading up to Easter. During Lent we are encouraged to build our relationship with God and with one another.
Lent can be a time of growth and transformation if we are ready to listen and answer the call. It is a time to put our faith into action. This is a time when we can all think about how we can do less of ‘just the usual” and more of how can we turn just the usual into something that is of an excellent standard. We can give our best and help others.
The whole school will be attending the 10am mass tomorrow for Ash Wednesday and you are most welcome to join us.
Before and After School Care Programme
The Bebop Programme will be starting here at Our Lady of Lourdes School next Monday, February 19.
It will be held in Room 4.

We extend an invitation to all members of our school community to join us for our parish/school mass and picnic to be held in our church and school grounds.
This is our first parish/school mass for the year and all children and their families are expected to attend. It our way of welcoming the new families and staff to our school and parish as well as welcoming us all to the new school year.
Mass will begin at 10am and will be followed by games and a swim. The parish will provide cooked sausages, bread, sauce, plates and forks. Please bring a salad to share and your own drinks.
Children do not have to wear their school uniform to this mass.
Parent Meet The Teacher & Information Evening

At this meeting you will meet all the teachers, be given information about our school’s charism and values along with some information about the curriculum.

We would like at least one parent/ whanau member to come to this meeting as it will help to set you and your child on their learning journey for 2018.

Fundamental Skills for Swimming
On Thursday, March 22 (weather permitting) we will be holding our junior and senior fundamental swimming skills demonstration for parents and whanau.
More information re times to follow.
If your child is going to be absent from school please ensure you ring the school office by 9.30am.
We need to know why students are absent as details must be entered onto our school management system.
If you don’t let us know then your child has to be marked as truant.
If your child is turning 5 in the next couple of years please ensure their name is down with Kath in the office.
Thank you for your continued support in purchasing stationery from the school.
We realise that the prices for stationery are higher than the larger retailers charge but our prices stay the same throughout the year and all profits go back to the students.
If you would like to pay monies owing to the school by internet banking the number is: 03-0726-0610377-00. Use your family name as reference.
A reminder that the stationery list needs to be completed and returned with updated contact information to the school office regardless of whether you bought the stationery through the school or not.
The RE, I.T. and Activity amounts need to be paid as soon as possible.
The cost for the Stardome of $6 per student was paid from your activity donation.
Should you have any difficulties with either stationery or the fees please see Mrs Cousins.
Touch starts again this Friday 16th February and there are 4 games, finishing on Friday 9th March. Please ensure that your child attends the final 4 games of the season.
