Term 1 Week 3 2018
Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou
We have made a very positive start to the new year and the children all seem to have settled in well.
The teaching staff enjoyed meeting those who attended our parent information evening held last night. Thank you for coming.
This Sunday we look forward to seeing you all at our school and parish mass and picnic which starts at 10am.
Enjoy your week,
Jacinta Cousins, Principal
Virtue of the Week
Excellence – Tino pai-rawa
Excellence is doing your best.
It is giving your very best to any task you do or any relationship you have.
Excellence is effort guided by a noble purpose.
It is a desire for perfection.
The perfection of a seed comes in the fruit.
When you practice excellence, you bring your gifts to fruition.
We practice tino pai-rawa when we:
give our best to whatever we do- give our best to relationships
- set noble and realistic goals
- remember to plan and practice
- don’t try to do everything
- develop our special gifts
Reflection of the week
The first reading this Sunday, the second Sunday of Lent, assures us that nothing can take us from the love of God.
God is on our side and we have nothing to fear. Nothing that is now and
nothing that is to come can separate us from God. The Gospel gives us a glimpse of our future glory in the Transfiguration. In the midst of the brokenness in the world, we are called to recognise Christ as the beloved Son of God and to listen to him. With him on our side, we have nothing to fear in this world or the next.

School Notices
Parish/School Mass & Picnic this Sunday 25th February
This is our first parish/school mass for the year and all children and their families are expected to attend.
As we said at our meeting last night being part of the special character of our school means that you have made a commitment to your child or children’s faith journey.
To help them grow in their Catholic faith it is essential that they take part in our school masses and any other special events that we have during the year.
Mass will begin at 10am and will be followed by games and a swim.
The parish will provide cooked sausages, bread, sauce, plates and forks.
Please bring a salad to share and your own drinks.
Children do not have to wear their school uniform to this mass.

On Thursday, March 22 (weather permitting) we will be holding our junior and senior fundamental swimming skills demonstration for parents and whanau.
