Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou

Virtue of the Week

Confidence – Maia

Confidence is having faith in something or someone.
It is a kind of trust.
When you have self confidence, you trust that you have what it takes to handle whatever happens.
You feel sure of yourself and enjoy trying new things.
When you are confident in others, you rely on them and confide in them.

We practice maia when we:

  • remember we are worthwhile whether we succeed or fail
  • are willing try new things
  • discover our talents
  • learn from our mistakes
  • are free of worry
  • think positively.

Reflection of the week

God has incredible experiences lined up for you. God has awesome people ready to enrich your life. You only need to follow Jesus’ advice in the readings this week to find it all. Abandon the world’s measure for happiness. Go where Jesus would go. Find the people who are forgotten or abused. Serve till it hurts – and then serve some more. Give up time you’d rather use for yourself. That’s what it means to be like the grain of wheat.

Don’t let fear stop you. It didn’t stop Jesus. Reach out in prayer for courage. Do the right thing in spite of pressure. You’ll find a new life you never expected – and it will be awesome.
