Term 3  Week 4  2018

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou

Welcome to week 4.

This week we welcome Pauline Balm, Rosalie Connors and Jane Dravitzki from the Catholic Education Office. They are undertaking the review of our school’s special catholic character.

Today we welcome Sofia, Savanna and Carlo Riveras  and their parents to our school community.

We also have our Book Fair here in our school library on Tuesday and Thursday from 2-3pm.

Lots happening this week!

Enjoy your week,

Jacinta Cousins, Principal

Virtue of the Week

peacefulness – rangimarie

Peacefulness is an inner sense of calm that can come in moments of silent gratitude or prayer. It is getting very quiet and looking at things so you can understand them. It is facing your fears and then letting them go. It is trusting that things will be all right. Peacefulness is giving up the love of power for the power of love. Peace in the world begins with peace in your heart.

We practice rangi-marie when we:

  • take time to pray
  • give our worries to God and ask God’s help in solving them
  • use peaceful language, even when we are angry
  • avoid harming anyone
  • appreciate differences

Reflection of the week

Assumption of Mary

August 15 is the day when we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary – the day when Mary “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.”

Normally the school would attend mass this special feast day but because we are on strike that won’t occur this year.

Appreciation Spot

Thank you to Kath Rooney, Maria Amey and Hayley Gilberd for the hard work they put in with the organisation of the fertiliser drive.

Money raised from this is going towards playground equipment and painted on games for our school playground.

School Notices

Our school will be closed tomorrow August 15th as our teachers and Principal are going on strike.
We are campaigning for more teachers and more resources so that your children get more attention and more support, especially if they have additional learning needs. Look out for us on the corner of Botanical Road and Pioneer Highway tomorrow morning from 8am.
Our bebop school care programme is operating that day if you need it.

Parish/School Mass & Pancake Breakfast
On Sunday, September 9 at 9.30am, we are holding our term 3 parish school mass and pancake breakfast.
It is expected and indeed hoped, that all our students and their families attend this mass so please mark it on your calendars now.

Book Week
Today Tuesday 14th August and Thursday 16th August, in the School Library between 3p.m. – 4p.m.   Lots of books. Great ideas for birthdays, Christmas.   This is always a successful and well supported event at our school.   Spread the word to family and friends.  The more books purchased the more money we have to spend for our library.
