Term 3  Week 9  2018

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou

Welcome to the last week of term 3 and thank you to the staff and the support of parents who have provided many exciting learning opportunities for our students over the term.

Have a wonderful break and I’ll see you back for the start of the fourth and final term on Monday, October 15.

Enjoy your week,

Jacinta Cousins, Principal

Virtue of the Week

Enthusiasm – Kai-ngakau

Enthusiasm is being inspired, full of spirit. It is being cheerful and happy. It is doing something wholeheartedly, with zeal and eagerness – giving 100% to what you do. Being enthusiastic is being excited about something, looking forward to it. It comes from having a positive attitude.

We practice kai-ngakau when we:

  • let ourselves enjoy looking forward to something
  • think of imaginative ways to get things done
  • do things wholeheartedly
  • smile, laugh and enjoy what we do
  • enjoy the wonders of life
  • are full of positive spirit

Reflection of the week

The readings this week focus on the freedom of the Spirit to blow when and where it will.

The Spirit of God is not, and cannot be, limited to officially appointed positions.

Jesus teaches us that he wants everyone to do good.

We are all part of the same group or family if we belong to Christ.

The Holy Spirit may act in and through anyone.

Sport

Lourdes Finish Second in Champions League
Our Lady of Lourdes football team lost narrowly 2 – 1 to St. James in a tense final of the competition.
The team tried their best, but couldn’t get their passing game, which they had shown in their previous two victories, going against a motivated and skilled St.James side.
Selyndah scored to give us an early lead, but unfortunately we conceded two late goals to dash our hopes for 2018.
Due to the success of the team we are automatically in next years final. Thanks to all the fans who came out to support us.

Lourdes win silver in Basketball!!
A great effort by our Basketball team on Thursday night saw them take the silver medal!!!
The team showed a lot of skill, determination and intensity in the final against Winchester School, coming back from a massive half time deficit to lose agonisingly by one shot!!!
Thanks to Robyn Greening for coaching and all the fans for supporting this season.
