Nga mihi nui ki a koutou
Welcome to the last term of the year. I hope you managed some down time over the holidays and have recharged your batteries ready for the busy time ahead.
Let’s hope we see a lot more of the warm, sunny weather.
Enjoy your week,
Jacinta Cousins, Principal
Virtue of the Week
Tolerance – Tuku-Marie
To be tolerant is to accept differences. You don’t expect others to think, look, speak or act just like you. Tolerance is being free of prejudice, knowing that all people have feelings, needs, hopes and dreams. To be tolerant also means to accept things you wish were different with flexibility and patience.
We practice tuku-marie when we:
- accept differences
- are free of prejudice
- don’t complain when uncomfortable conditions can’t be helped
- make others feel included by reaching out in friendliness
- change ourselves instead of trying to change others
- accept people the way they are, faults and all
Reflection of the week
October is the month of the Rosary. When you pray the Rosary you use a circle of beads. We say a prayer as we touch each bead. It is a very reflective and gentle way of praying. We think about important times in the lives of Jesus and about Mary as we pray. We will be saying part of the Rosary each morning this month. If your child has their own rosary beads they are welcome to bring them to school.
Pet Blessing Liturgy and Parade
THIS Friday at 9am children are invited to bring their pet to school for a blessing followed by a parade.
We ask an adult to accompany the pet as well and take it home as soon as the event is over which will be no more than half an hour.
All animals must be firmly secured i.e. dogs on a leash and cats etc in a cage. Children have been told the animals are not to be released from the cage at any time so it is advisable that the animal can be seen from inside their cage.
If your child does not have a pet then they are more than welcome to bring along a soft toy animal instead.
Next Monday it is Labour Day so there is no school that day. Enjoy the long weekend!
Children are to be in summer uniform after Labour weekend.
We are holding a small stock of boys summer shorts sizes 4 and 6 at $12 ea.

Upcoming Events To Be Noted
On November 30 we will behaving a mufti day to raise money for the Zoo Conservation Fund. Children can come dressed as an animal like they did for our disco last term.
Weather permitting we will hold our athletics day from 9-12pm on Friday, December 7 here on our school field.
We are planning to take all our students in their whanau groups down to the Wellington Zoo by bus to round off our animal inquiry study this term. Three groups will go on December 13 and three on December 14. This way families will all be going on the same day and we will have the older students to help look after the younger ones.
We will need adults to help with supervision please but sorry we cannot accommodate pre-schoolers.
Please let us know if you are able to help. Ring the office and Kath will tell you what day your child/ren are going.
More information about times etc will be sent out closer to the dates.
On December 17 we will be holding a carol evening.
If the weather allows we will start with a picnic tea out on the field followed by carols. Each class will be singing a carol and we invite cultural groups to organise and sing one as well. If wet this will be held in the hall.
Basketball Tops to be returned please.
