Term 1  Week 2  2019

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou

Welcome to the 2019 school year.

We welcome back our returning students and their families and extend a special welcome to those who are new to our school community. (see photo)

We are all set for an exciting year of learning and the staff and I look forward to working with you and your children.

The newsletter comes home every Tuesday and it is the chief means of communication with you. Please take the time to read it. It is also posted on our website and school App each week.

Enjoy your week,

Jacinta Cousins, Principal

Virtue of the Week

Reflection of the week

Yesterday we celebrated our school and parish’s Patronal Feast Day.

This is the day in the Liturgical year that we remember when our patron Saint, Our Lady, appeared to Saint Bernadette at Lourdes in France in 1858.

Our school charism and the wellspring in the courtyard is our link to this.

The wellspring symbolises the growth, nurturing and learning that occurs here at our school.

Like Mary, Our Lady, we too are called to be disciples of Jesus.

Athletic Sports
Our athletic sports which were held over from last term are being held this Friday, February 15th starting at approx 9.30am. on our school field. You are all welcome to attend.

Swimming
All Students  need to bring their togs to school.  We swim everyday as it is an important facet of the Health curriculum.   Also students need their P.E. clothes everyday.

Parish/School Mass & Picnic  Sunday 3rd March
We extend an invitation to all members of our school community to join us for our parish/school mass and picnic to be held in our church and school grounds.
This is our first parish/school mass for the year and all children and their families are expected to attend. It our way of welcoming the new families and staff to our school and parish as well as welcoming us all to the new school year.
Mass will begin at 9.30am and will be followed by a picnic and swim.
Children do not have to wear their school uniform to this mass.

Thank you to Brendan Butturini for the great job he did replacing our wooden seats and to Chris White for his work securing our gates.

Student/ Parent /Teacher Conference booking forms were due back today. Have you returned yours?
These are being held on Thursday, February 21st starting at 2pm

2019 Parental Permission Slips
These slips were sent home last week. Please return asap.

Absenteeism
If your child is going to be absent from school please ensure you ring the school office by 9.30am. We need to know why students are absent as details must be entered onto our school management system. If you don’t let us know then your child has to be marked as truant.   Also if children arrive after the bell they need to check in at the school office.

Enrolments
If your child is turning 5 in the next couple of years please ensure their name is down with Kath in the office.

Stationery
Thank you for your continued support in purchasing stationery from the school.   We realise that the  prices for stationery are higher than the larger retailers charge but our prices stay the same throughout the year and all profits go back to the students.  If you would like to pay monies owing to the school by internet banking the number is: 03-0726-0610377-00. Use your family name as reference.
A reminder that the stationery list needs to be completed and returned with updated contact information to the school office regardless of whether you bought the stationery through the school or not.
Should you have any difficulties with either stationery or the fees please see Mrs Cousins.
