Kia Ora, Talofa, Namaste, Malo e lelei, Bula Vinaka, Musta, Suo-stei, Kia orana, Malo ni

Welcome to Week 9 –We hope your week has started well. We have less than two weeks to go until the end of the term – and they are busy ones so please read through the newsletter for up to date information. Thank you to those who were able to attend Mass on Sunday. It was so lovely to see our young people stand up, take on roles and to be ‘Heart, hands, and voice of Jesus’ Thank you to our church whanau who shared their gifts and talents through music and supporting our tamariki in their roles.

Behaviour Expectations
We are currently reviewing our Behaviour Expectations at Our Lady of Lourdes. We are sharing with your child the high expectations for the sharing of our mercy values. We are sharing that we expect all children to show kindness as Jesus did, to show respect for one another and to use the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated.

We are redesigning our Reflection Sheet for children who need time to reflect on their actions. These will now be sent home followed by a phone call from the classroom teacher or myself. We ask that you talk to your child and support us in being a school that is truly living our Mercy values.

Kind Heart Awards
Congratulations to the following students who are wonderful examples of KIND HEARTS and ACTIONS in our school: these remarkable young people show their SERVE values around our school environment:
Imogen, Miley, Bella, Jayde and Ruby

Inter school Cross Country Report
On Wednesday 12th June,  five of OLOL students competed at the Inter School Cross Country for Year 5 and 6 at the Ashurst Domain. These were Jarrod, Soloman, Thomas andJack who represented the Year 5 boys and Xavier as the sole representative for the Year 6 boys. The boys had continued training since the school event and looked forward to the day with confidence. A number of the boys’ parents also attended and the boys appreciated their support. All of our tamariki did their PERSONAL BEST (PB) Congratulations to Jarrod who placed 7th for the Year 5 boys. It was very satisfying to see the children giving their best and being happy with their efforts. Thanks also to the parents who came along and gave their support.

Playground Upgrade: Calling all interested whanau who are able to help with this. We are looking at plans and ideas for an upgrade, the rebuilding of edges and some of the playground as well as the addition of new equipment. Our children enjoy playing on this and we want to enhance what we already have. If you think this is one way in which you can contribute, then I love to hear from you.
