From The Teachers/Kaiako

The Nest
This week marks the first week of Advent and we will  be learning all about this special time of waiting and getting ready for the birth of Jesus. We have been busy extending our choices for discovery going outdoors with water play, outside construction and chalk art.

Advent has arrived!  We are learning all about this wonderful festive season where we wait and prepare for the arrival of Jesus.  We are also very excited to be swimming in this lovely warm weather.  It has been an absolute pleasure to teach the Rainbows this year.  We have enjoyed learning, discovering and growing together!

Mrs Pedley enjoyed watching some members of the class play summer touch rugby last Friday.  They did an amazing job running in the hot afternoon sun.  Well done team, you all worked so well together.  Last week we finished off our Inquiry of Hauora and will be sharing our learning with you all, at this weeks Assembly.  Our Advent wreath looks amazing on our prayer table, all ready to use as we wait for the arrival of Jesus.

We are excited that our swimming pool is open! We have been cooling off while practising our water safety skills. The hot weather has also led us outside to experiment with ice painting. We enjoyed watching how the ice melted and how we could push the ice around to create different patterns. We have also made our nativity scene as we prepare ourselves for Advent and the arrival of Jesus.

Congratulations to Naretta for winning our Movember competition with a super moustache. United has been learning about identifying types of bullying and investigating whether certain scenarios actually constitute bullying based on the evidence provided. Our road patrollers are looking forward to their march along Broadway this Friday and going to the movies as a reward for their service this year.

Children’s Liturgy
Sundays during 9.30am Mass
It has been lovely to see so many of our tamariki attending and enjoying Children’s Liturgy on Sundays. The older children from year 6 onwards are now joining us during this time too.  They also read scripture and unpack the Gospel of the day (like the younger group) but it is designed for their level of learning and understanding.  We are always back in church in time for the Eucharistic part of the Mass.
It would be wonderful  if you could encourage your child(ren) to come along and join us on Sundays at Children’s Liturgy!
See you there!
