From the Classrooms

Discoverers – Ms Brown & Mrs O’Connor,  Ruma 1 & Ruma 2
We had a great week getting settled back into our surroundings and routines. We have been very excited watching the tui birds in the kowhai trees and so we are going to be discovering around our native NZ birds and weaving this discovery  into our art,  writing and  technology (designing and creating bird feeders).

Believers – Mrs Pedley, Ruma 3
We are continuing on our journey of the Little Garden League.  We have now planted our little seeds and have been learning all about procedural writing (following and writing instruction).  We are now going to investigate what plants need to help them to grow and where is going to be the best place to grow our seed when they are ready to be transplanted.

Aroha – Miss Penman, Ruma 6
We’re going to have a look into some exciting science experiments over the next couple of weeks. Aroha loved experimenting last term so we are going to continue looking into some hands-on activities like slime and things that go boom!

Mahi Tahi – Mrs Moor, Ruma 7
IMahi Tahi are learning to recite the rosary and memorise all the prayers this involves. They are going to take on the responsibility of leading the prayer from this week. We will also be doing some ‘explosion’ experiments to improve their personal  writing skills.

Chiefs – Mr Anderson, Ruma 8
Rangatira enjoyed learning about the election last week, investigating different political parties and their policies. We also held a class election with the winner being The F and M Party (Francis and McAuley) The leaders of the party were Tala and Lio and the objective was to plan a school day with the prize being the opportunity to teach that day towards the end of the year.
