Mon Mar 15 01:00pm

Today, our wonderful police found the things that had been taken from school earlier this morning. Thanks also to Mr Torok who had installed cameras in our school that helped as well.  Our amazing children have been wonderful helpers in Rooms 6 and 7 cleaning up. We are looking at additional security measures to keep our schhol and its belongings safe.

Thank you for your lovely kind phone calls and offers of help. – we are truly blessed to be part of this community.

Just a quick note to share that in the early hours of this morning someone broke into the school. We are very lucky that there was very little taken however there is a litte upheaval in two of the upstairs rooms. We have been very fortunate that the security and police were here very quickly. We will be talking to the children this morning about this. Please keep an eye and ear out if you hear anything. Abundant blessings to you all.

ALERT LEVEL 2 for OLOL

Mon Mar 01 09:27am

A guideline from the Ministry of Education

Alert Level 2 – All of New Zealand excluding Auckland region
Alert Level 2 began at 6am this morning, 28 February for a period of seven days.

1. Schools are open to everyone, and all children must attend.
At Alert Level 2 the disease is contained but there is still risk of community transmission. It is safe for children and staff to attend school and for school hostels to be operating as there will be appropriate measures in place, including for children and staff vulnerable to severe illness.

2. Face coverings are not required at school or on any school transport.

3. Sick people must stay at home.
They should seek medical advice if they have COVID-like symptoms and get tested if advised to do so. If that person displays relevant symptoms of COVID-19, tests positive for COVID-19, or has been in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, they must self-isolate.

4. You must have a contact tracing system in place.
This includes displaying QR code posters at your entrances, your timetable, attendance register and visitor register.

5. Fundamental public health measures continue to apply at every alert level:
Physical distancing (not touching and not breathing on each other at Alert Level 2)
Hand hygiene
Cough and sneeze etiquette
Regularly cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces.

Please only come on to school grounds if you need too – we want to keep our school community safe and well.

Blessings to you all

MOVING TO ALERT LEVEL 1

Wed Feb 17 07:32pm

Moving to Alert Level 1

 Kia ora koutou/ Hello all

It was great news to hear we are moving to Alert Level 1 so quickly. While new cases in the community are always disappointing to hear of, it is reassuring to see how quickly they have been identified. I am sure we are all grateful for the efforts of our health workers, scientists and technicians in this regard, and the thousands of people who have been tested.

As a community we need to avoid the complacency which New Zealanders tend to quickly move into when we are at lower alert levels. Please do continue to scan QR codes and monitor closely for illness within your whanau/family.

Our focus as always will be to support the learning, safety and wellbeing of our community and tamariki/children and we continue to be here to support you too.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s kaiako/teacher or me, if there is something you need assistance with.

Blessings to you during this season of Lent

The team of Our Lady of Lourdes school

ALERT LEVEL 2 guidelines for the next 72 hours

Mon Feb 15 06:32am

School is open for all. As mentioned in the email last night, we ask for anyone on school grounds to please use the Tracer App or Register when entering at the front gate or office. Last year most of our children were confident coming onto school and leaving school grounds by themselves and we encourage that again at this stage. We ask that you please use hand sanitizer as you enter and exit school grounds for the protection of our school community. Further information will be shared after 9am this morning. Thank you for kindness and support.

Go gently, be kind and together we can do this.

Hello all,

Thu Feb 11 02:13pm

Our building work is going well. This afternoon three concrete trucks are here to support the new foundations for the flooring. One may still be here this afternoon and we will have all staff out to ensure the safety of your child.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES SCHOOL INVITATION
Welcomes you all to Mass on SUNDAY 14th at 9.30am to celebrate Our
Lady of Lourdes feast day.
DID YOU KNOW: Mary, Jesus’ mother, is the greatest saint. She has appeared to
many people over the centuries. Our Lady of Lourdes was the title she was
given after she visited Bernadette Soubirous, a fourteen-year-old girl in 1858.
Bernadette lived in a very poor house in Lourdes,
France, with her parents, two brothers, and a sister. One day
Bernadette was out with her sister and a friend to gather wood for
the fire. Bernadette, who suffered from asthma and was often sick,
did not cross over the stream to gather wood on the other side with
her sister and friend. While they were gone, Bernadette heard a
noise over near a cave-like area, and she went to investigate.
There, Bernadette saw a lovely lady dressed in white who had a
blue sash around her waist and a rose on
each foot. She was beautiful!
Bernadette prayed the rosary with this lady before she disappeared.
The lady asked her to come back again. The lady appeared to
Bernadette a total of eighteen times. Bernadette was teased and
laughed at; many believed that she was either imagining the
appearances of Our Lady or making it up.
When a spring miraculously appeared after one of the visions, many
who doubted her began to believe. Those who bathed in the spring
were often cured of serious sickness or disability. Eventually, the lady
identified herself: “I am the Immaculate Conception,” she told
Bernadette. It was then that people realized for sure that it was Mary,
the mother of God, appearing to Bernadette.
We would love for you to join us…
★ School leaders to wear uniforms as you will be helping to host our Mass and
morning tea
★ All other children can wear everyday clothes for Mass
★ Please bring a plate to share for morning tea…living our HOSPITALITY MERCY
VALUE
★ The pool will be open after morning tea for a swim as well so bring your togs.

Blessings to you this Waitangi Weekend
